Please join the Region 2 National Preparedness Division for a discussion on the role of civil rights and equity in all phases of a disaster: the before, during, and after. This presentation will provide an opportunity to learn about various civil rights and obligations at the federal, state, and local level, while showcasing lessons learned from previous disasters. There will be discussion of how NYC Emergency Management and FEMA work to address civil rights and the needs of vulnerable populations. There will also be an overview of the rights of individuals and how community organizations can help ensure equal access to disaster programs for their community. Speaker FEMA works to ensure equitable access for all to any services and programs that are provided by the agency.
