FEMA is leading a whole community effort to strengthen the Resource Management component of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which provides a nationwide approach to resource management, enabling stakeholders to work together to manage all threats and hazards, regardless of the incident’s cause or size.

On November 1, 2018, FEMA released for National Engagement one NIMS Resource Typing Definition, and three National Qualification System (NQS) Job Title / Position Qualifications and Position Task Books. The series of documents released provide guidance regarding the Housing core capability under the National Preparedness Goal. The National Engagement Period will conclude at 5:00 p.m. EST November 30, 2018.

FEMA is hosting four 60-minute informational webinars to discuss these draft documents and answer related questions. All webinars are open to the whole community, including individuals and communities, the private and nonprofit sectors, faith-based organizations, and all governments.

Each webinar will cover the same information, so please choose the session most convenient for you.

BACKGROUND:

FEMA supports the mission of strengthening the security and resilience of the nation by working to improve the ability of all to manage incidents, events, and emergencies.

NIMS is a key component of U.S. incident management efforts and enables organizations from across the country to work together during incidents of all kinds and sizes. Implementing NIMS across the nation is a fundamental part of building our national preparedness. NIMS Job Titles/Position Qualifications and Resource Typing Definitions define minimum qualifications and capabilities for personnel and their equipment within their assigned teams to manage all threats and hazards, regardless of the incident’s cause or size.

The feedback on the Housing core capability products will ensure that authorities having jurisdiction and personnel functioning in this capacity have the knowledge, experience, training, and capability to perform the duties of their assigned roles.
